On Monday, June 18, 2018, jury selection began in Nick Slatten's long-awaited retrial. However, the jury will not return to court this week. Rather, key motions are being filed pertaining to last-minute revelations of more exculpatory evidence and bad faith on behalf of the government. A hearing is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, June 20, 2018, and we hope to have more information--and hopefully quotes from and links to the motions--by the end of the week.
We are so thankful to the tens of thousands of supporters out there thinking of and praying for Nick, Paul, Dustin, and Evan. Although Nick is the only one of the four men who received a retrial, we are hopeful that new information gained as a result of Nick going through a second trial will be helpful to Paul, Dustin, and Evan. We know that you are anxious to hear updates, and we are going to do our best to post key developments when they occur and intend to do a more in-depth weekly recap (hopefully on Fridays) during Nick's retrial, which is expected to last most of the summer. Please keep checking back on the blog for updates, and we will also push blog post links to our Facebook and Twitter pages ASAP.
With a big day ahead of Nick tomorrow, we ask that you hold him in your thoughts and say a prayer that truth and justice will prevail and return him home to his family--and that Nick's homecoming is a giant step in restoring Paul, Dustin, and Evan to their families as well.
